Kathleen Dixon Obituary

DOVER — Kathleen E. Dixon, 86, of Dover passed away on May 13, 2010, at the Dover Rehabilitation Center in Dover, N.H.

Kathleen was born in New Brunswick, Canada, on Feb. 24, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Arnold and Gladys (Northrup) Dixon.

Kathleen had made her home in Dover for the past 46 years. She became a U.S. Citizen at age 25 and was a high school graduate from Somerville High School in Massachusetts. She joined the Marine Corps after graduating High School and enrolled in a secretarial school in Boston. Years later she became secretary of the Commanding Officer of the Naval Medical Clinic in Portsmouth.

Kay was also an active member of the St. John's Methodist Church in Dover. After retiring, she worked many years as a tour guide for the Senior Center in Dover, where she made many friends. Kay loved singing, vacationing, and traveling with family and friends all around the world.

She was predeceased by her husband, Louis Grasso in 1965 and also her sister, Pauline Mistretta of Woburn and brother, Douglas Dixon of Billerica.

She is survived by her loving sisters, Virginia Hogle and Jean O'Brien of Woburn, Mass. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and longtime friend, Ronald Mercier.

Visiting hours will be at the Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave. Dover, N.H., beginning at 2 p.m., Monday May 17, followed by a memorial service at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev Mark Monson Alley, officiating from St John's United Methodist Church.
