Roland Edgerly Obituary
ROCHESTER - Roland "Edge" Edgerly, 78, passed away Tuesday February 4, 2014 at his home, following a period of failing health. Born August 15, 1935 in Sanford, Maine he was the son of the late Carroll and Laura (Levesque) Edgerly. Roland served in the US Navy from 1955 to 1960 as a refrigeration mechanic and also served in the US Air Force from 1962 to 1966. Following his service he worked as a Housing Inspector at Pease Air Force Base for 20 years. He also worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, as well as owning and operating Rochester Refrigeration for several years. Roland was a member of the Humane Lodge 21 of Rochester, the Rochester Elks Lodge 1393, and the Rochester American Legion Post 7. He also was President of the Seacoast Van Club from 1977-1982, and took pride in his trophy winning van called "The Night Train". Roland was also known for making people laugh with his "one liners". He loved cooking, dancing and taking vacations to Bar Harbor Maine.
Members of his family include his loving wife of 5 years Dorothy (Towle) Edgerly of Rochester; his children Lisa Boggs and husband Christopher of Ossipee; and Jodi Cook and husband Ernest, Jr. of Rochester; three stepchildren Darlene Holbrook and her husband David of South Carolina, Donna Howard of Rochester, and Pamela MCGeathy and her husband Mack of Rochester; his grandchildren Brittany, Cameron, Cole, Corbin, and Caden and two great grandchildren Rheegan and Gunner, several nieces and nephews, and Roland's loving puppy "Benji".
He was predeceased by his first wife of 45 years Judie (Randlett) Edgerly, his daughter Robin Edgerly, his brother Raymond "Ray" Edgerly, his stepson Jeffrey Dorr and step son in law John Howard. A special thank you to his personal care givers, Judi, Deb, Jamie, Angelic & Sarah. As well as to Josie from Hospice.
A memorial service will be held Saturday February 8, 2014 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the R.M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St. Rochester, NH. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter, 480 Pleasant St. Watertown, MA, 02472, or Cornerstone VNA, 178 Farmington Rd. Deepest Sympathies... my parents were good friends of Edge and Judie in the 70-80's. They were van club members with Termites Delight. I still remember Night Train... Edge would lay on the horn as he left our house, and it would scare me every time. RIP

so sorry to hear of edge,s passing.we were close friends in the van club,lots of great stories and jokes.night train was a big hit at all the events.always willing to help with refrigeration knowledge,we will miss edge.r.i.p. my friend!

Uncle's passing is the end of an era in our family... They are all together again and ohhhh what a party in heaven!!
