Ms. Rebecca Jean Bryan, 34, was born Easter Sunday, 10 April, 1977, in Flemington, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. She attended Bethlehem Township grade schools (Conley and Ethel Hoppock) and graduated in 1995 from North Hunterdon High School in Annandale, New Jersey. In high school she was active in track and field, field hockey, and musicals, starring as Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady. She received her BS in Art Education at Kutztown University, graduating magna cum laude, and also received a BS in veterinary science from Wilson College.
She taught art in Pennsylvania schools and later was employed in various veterinary hospitals in Pennsylvania and Maryland. She was currently head technician at Frederick Emergency Animal Hospital in Frederick, Maryland. Rebecca was a talented singer who sang at numerous county fairs and at Hershey Park, winning several singing contests. She opened for Gary Allen and other artists. She owned Dreamcatcher Entertainment and was DJ at various venues, including weddings.
Becky was the quintessential animal lover and left behind five beloved pets: three border collies, Pritchett, Flower, and Quick, and two cats, Cole and Kitty Poof. All her animal "children" will be placed in loving homes. Becky was a skilled artist trained by master teacher Natalie Mackay. Loving horses, Becky completed numerous equine portraits and worked on horse farms in different states.
Early Friday morning, July 15, 2011, she died instantly in an automobile accident near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania after setting up her karaoke equipment for Friday night's show.
Rebecca is survived by her parents, Randy and Peggy Bryan of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; brothers Jeffry Bryan of Lenhartsville, Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania and Lt. Col. Robert Bryan of Easton, Pennsylvania; a sister, Jodie Wert of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, nephews Andrew Wert, David Bryan, Christopher Bryan, Daniel Bryan, Justin Barr and Jacob Barr; nieces Danae Bryan and Megan Wert; and many cousins scattered throughout the country.
A memorial service will take place at Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, 20 July 2011 at 4:00 PM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 3:00 PM until the time of the service.
