Wanda Platter Obituary

Mrs. Wanda Jean Platter, 61, of 1421 Taney Ave., Frederick, died Sunday, Jan. 16, at the Northampton Manor Nursing Home.

She was the wife of the late Byard Groves Platter.

Born Aug. 28, 1938, in Frederick, she was a daughter of the late Harry M. Sr. and Hilda Soper Shank.

Mr. Platter was a homemaker for most of her life and she was a member of the Central United Methodist Church, Libertytown.

She was an avid piano player.

She is survived by two sons, Steven W. Platter and wife Martha Kay of Hagerstown and Carl E. Platter and wife Annette of Girard, Ohio; two daughters, Mary L. Ward and husband Wesley of Frederick, and Darcy E. Platter of Brunswick; one brother, Harry M. Shank of North Carolina; five grandchildren, Nicole Platter, Dustin Platter, Courtney Ward, Matthew Boazzo and Christina Boazzo; one great-granddaughter, Ciera Boazzo; and many nieces and nephews.

She will also be remembered by a special friend, Martha Wolfe of Frederick.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Garver.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Jan. 19, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 20, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Jerry A. Cline, pastor of the Central United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Central United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 337, Libertytown, Md. 21762.
