William Radcliffe

1936 - 2023

William Henry Radcliffe Jr. 86, passed away peacefully on Friday March 24, 2023. Bill was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Verna (Hiponia) Radcliffe, daughter Teresa Kempisty (John), son William H. Radcliffe III (Trey), daughter Dawn Stone (Donnie), grandchildren Carli & Dustin Stone, John & James Kempisty, along with their significant others. Also surviving are numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, & friends. He was happiest spending time with family and friends.

Son of Nettie King Radcliffe & William H. Radcliffe Sr, he grew up in Rockville, MD. He attended Richard Montgomery HS, Western MD College, and earned his bachelor's degree in fine arts and physical education from University of Maryland, College Park. He was a member of the SAE Fraternity.

Bill loved to reminisce about his glory days playing football as a MD Terrapin, and later with the Frederick Falcons 1971-72. Bill loved boating, fishing, and the beach. In earlier years he was an avid water skier, horseman, and golfer. He enjoyed art, gardening, old cowboy movies, and building wooden model airplanes.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. when a Celebration of Life Service will be held, at Wesley Grove United Methodist Church, 23640 Woodfield, Rd., Gaithersburg, MD 20882. Casual attire welcome.
