Eleanor S. Carrington
Eleanor Sullivan Carrington, 96, of Spotsylvania County passed away Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Eleanor was also known to her family and close friends as "Mia," a name her then-young grandson Kevin gave her that stayed with her the rest of her life.
She retired from the Stafford County school system, where she worked in accounting for 44 years. Eleanor was a lifelong and oldest member of Bethel Baptist Church; she was very active in her beloved church until her later years.
Eleanor was given 96 wonderful years to enjoy life, and the thing she cherished the most was her Christian faith, which served as the basis for the love she had for her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Lynda R. Greene (Frederick) of Fredericksburg; her son, Robert Lloyd Green III (Frances) of Spotsylvania; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Maurice and Florence Sullivan of Stafford; and her sister, Edith Boulton of Seattle.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
A service will be held at11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at Bethel Baptist Church. Interment will follow the service at the church cemetery. Bethel Church is hosting a reception for family and friends following the interment.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, 1193 White Oak Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22405.
