Robert Girsham Obituary
Robert "Bob" Girsham, 82, of Chesterfield, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at his youngest son's home in Chesterfield, Virginia.
Bob was born on December 26, 1939, in West New York, New Jersey, to Louise Schoener and Robert M. Girsham. Bob was a devoted husband, a caring father and grandfather to both his own and stepchildren.
As a teen and young adult in New Jersey, Bob enjoyed working on the water primarily harvesting oysters. After moving to Virginia, Bob changed career fields and became a talented carpenter. Bob helped build many homes in the Fredericksburg area before going into business for himself as B&G Construction. Once self-employed, Bob primarily built additions and completed home renovations. His passion was trim carpentry, providing him with challenges and where his attention to detail made him a perfectionist.
Survivors include his children, Susan Collins, Robert Girsham III, and Mark Girsham; stepdaughters, Catherine Selby, Deborah Riggins, and Connie Trigger; 17 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
A service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2022, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Bob was a neighbor and friend. We loved going out to eat and playing pool in his basement. We got to know Bob from going to the same church. We will miss him very much.

Bob was our dear friend and a regular part of our monthly gathering of friends at our home. We will miss him dearly. But we are fully confident that we will see him and Lil again once we have left this life. Bob loved the Lord. He served as a deacon at our church. He was a close personal friend. He was a devoted student of the Bible.

I was fortunate enough to work with Bob in the mid 70´s as his helper. He taught me so very much during that time. I am sorry to hear of his passing. He was a good man and will be missed by all the lives he touched.
