William J. Melchior William Joseph Melchior, 77, of Spotsylvania County passed away Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at Mary Washington Hospital.
He was born in Syracuse, N.Y., on Feb. 26, 1937. Bill was a man of many talents that he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He was a life-long nature lover, enthusiastic writer, painter and award-winning amateur photographer. After decades spent in marketing, advertising and design, he concluded his career in the advertising department of The Free LanceStar.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Marlene Davis Melchior; daughters Loralea Liggett (Danial), Victoria Eastman (Jack); sons Tyler Melchior (Lance Kniskern), Christopher Melchior (Hoyle McCain); sister Barbara Carnes (Calland); grandchildren Haylea, Collin and Davis Liggett, Victor Eastman and Mackenzie Friel (Jacob); and several nieces and nephews. He was looking forward to being a great-grandfather in May 2015.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
