Shirley B. Eaton, 83, of Fremont passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015, at Dunklau Gardens.
Shirley was born in Fremont on Oct. 7, 1931, to Charles and Erma (Hansen) Bell. She spent most of her life in Fremont with stops in Omaha and Hooper, settling in Fremont in 1959. She graduated from Fremont High School in 1949. While in school, she was active in vocal music, cheerleading and was named homecoming queen in 1948. She was married in 1953 to William Eaton and had four children, Nancy, William, Tracy and Bryan.
She spent the majority of her life being a housewife and raising the children, but she also enjoyed bridge, reading, bowling and golf, where she played in various leagues.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Charlene (Sally) Rohlfs (Del).
She is survived by her husband, William; children, Nancy Whitaker, William (Mary) Eaton, Tracy (Vernon) Fisher and Bryan Eaton; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson still in the oven.
A private burial will take place June 3, 2015, at Memorial Cemetery followed by a memorial service at First Lutheran Church at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Michael Thomas officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the charity of your choice.
