Barbara Jane Ruxton

Barbara Jane Ruxton was born on September 4, 1922, in San Franciso to John and Elizabeth Anne Mills, and passed away at Somerford Place on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, after a long and courageous struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Barbara move to Fresno when she was five years old and attended Jackson Elementary, Roosevelt High, and Fresno State College. She and her husband "Bill" Ruxton were in the insurance business for over thirty years untill they retired and spent the next fifteen years enjoying the fruits of their labor; traveling throughout Europe, and making many trips in the United States like Lake Tahoe, Reno, and Carmel. The family extends its special thanks to the wonderful care provided to Barbara by the staff at Somerford Place over the last three years, and to Saint Agnes Hospice the last few months. Barbara was preceded in death by her mother and father; her only sister, Beverly Hill Heaton; nephew, James Hill; and her brother-in-law, Eric Ruxton and his wife Evelyn. Barbara is survived by William "Bill" Ruxton, her husband of 62 years; sons, William Keith Ruxton, and John Mills Ruxton and hisdaughter Meredith Stangl and her husband Jeffrey, and their two children, Devon and Kimberly of Vacaville, Ca. She is also survived by her niece, Judy Peterson and her husband Rolf and their three sons Matthew, Eric, and Neil and their families; her brother-in-law, Kenneth Ruxton and his wife Beverly and their three sons Mark, Matthew, and Paul and their families.
