Fernando Jasso Obituary

FERNANDO JASSO "Ferni" Fernando left his family to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 24, 2006. He was preceded in death by his father, Seferino Jasso; sister, Lupita Jasso; niece, Estrellita "Starr" Lopez; and nephew, Johnny "Sefer" Jasso. Fernando was one of 12 children born to Placida and Seferino Jasso in Weslaco, Texas on October 6, 1952. He was nine years old when the family settled in the Sanger area. Since contracting polio as a baby, and given only a few years to live, Ferni, beat the odds and grew to manhood touching the lives of many people. His love for his family and friends, his gentle smile, and his sense of humor, in spite of his limitations, will be in our hearts forever. His strength, determination to live and love, and his faith in God were his unique attributes that united his family and touched the lives of those whose paths he crossed. Fernando is survived by his mother, Placida Jasso; four brothers, Tom, Johnny, George and Manuel Jasso; six sisters, Carmen Mercado, Mollie Mendoza, Cristela Chavez, Irma Jasso-Mendez, Labianca Baker and Maria Jasso-Lopez; and a very supportive extended family. Visitation will be held at Wallin's Sanger Funeral Home on Thursday, June 29, 2006, from 3:30 to 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of his life will be held at St. Mary's New Catholic Church on North and Bethel in Sanger on Friday, June 30, 2006, at 9:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Sanger Cemetery.
