John Janda Obituary
July 22, 1950 - February 18, 2023
Fresno, California - Our dear father, Dr. John P.S. Janda passed away on February 24, 2023 of natural causes in Fresno, California. He was born in Bangladesh and attended medical school at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. He moved to the United States in 1977 and completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Janda moved from New Jersey to Fresno in 1982 with his wife, Dr. Pam Janda.
Dr. Janda's passion was orthopedic surgery as he cared for his patients, day and night. Dr. Janda treated thousands of patients in the Central Valley during his career.
Dr. Janda will be remembered as a fun-loving person and a loyal friend. He is survived by his sister, sons, nephew, and four grandchildren.
Dr. Janda requested a cremation with a donation to your favorite charity. He wanted a quiet, simple memorial service, and his family fulfilled his wishes.
The Janda family is grateful and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support they have received from their friends and the community at large.

I still possess a warm letter John wrote to me on 10th July, 1972 from his London address SW15. He said he had promised to send me what he called " the vivid thoughts in the stimulating prayer of Ravindranath Tagore Nobel Laureate" to which he had drawn my attention in the most delightful conversation I ever had with one of our students (I taught Pharmacology, Aberdeen University). And I treasure the prayer he enclosed with his letter. I apologise for not having rediscovered sooner the mislaid correspondence, hence my delayed condolences and thanks.

John was a good friend and medical colleague of mine for several decades. He was a brilliant surgeon and we spent many hours together, both at my office in Visalia and at our home. I have good memories of him and his wonderful sense of humor. He had great affection for his sons and took tremendous pleasure in their success.
I will miss him greatly. RIP, my friend.
