LOIS MCKEAND

Lois McKeand, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at her home in Bakersfield, California. She was born February 4, 1930 in San Marino, California to Carl and Grace Cooper. Lois was the youngest of five children. Lois was a graduate of South Pasadena High in 1948. She continued on to Whittier College and received her BA degree in 1952. She majored in psychology and minored in education. It was during this time that she met her husband of 51 years, Robert J. McKeand. Over the course of fourteen years, Lois taught grade school off and on while starting a family of her own. Lois and Bob raised five children. She enjoyed family vacations at the beach house in San Clemente and the many vacations at the cabin at Lake Tahoe. Along the way Lois made many friends. She was a member of the Fresno and Elk Grove Newcomers group. Here she developed many friendships that have lasted throughout the years. Her greatest achievement though was the family she loved and raised. We are truly blessed for the home she created. Lois is survived by her children, Robert McKeand Jr. of Coarsegold, Laurence McKeand of Reno, William McKeand of Clovis, Lisa Crosswhite of Bakersfield and Scott McKeand of Elk Grove, daughter in-law Cheryl McKeand and Lauren McKeand; son in-law, Shaun Crosswhite; Eleven grandchildren, Erin and Dustin, Kimberly and Ashley, Tanner and Lindsey, Brittany, Brooke and Matthew, Kylie and Aubrey; and two great grand children, Makai and Kaliah.
