Nancy R. Walters

Nancy R. Walters (Rosie), 89, of Frankfort, passed away peacefully at home on October 3, 2023. She was born in 1934 to Lester and Opal Hardwick in Rushville, Indiana.

Rosie was a 1952 graduate of Muncie Central High School. She earned her bachelor's degree from Indiana Central College and her master's degree from Ball State Teacher's College. She met her husband and love of her life, Dick Walters, while a student at Indiana Central and they were married on June 30, 1956. Dick preceded her in death in September 2017 after 61 years of marriage.

Dick & Rosie made their home in Clinton County, Indiana where Rosie was an elementary school teacher for 43 years. She taught at Forest Elementary, Kyger Elementary, and then Clinton Central Elementary until her retirement in 1999. Rosie was a dedicated, caring teacher who made a difference in so many lives. She still heard from many of her past students who considered Rosie their "favorite" teacher.

Rosie had a close group of friends whose love, support & companionship meant the world to her. Rosie was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved nothing more than to have everyone together, especially at the beach and during the holidays. Her family is grateful to have so many wonderful memories and will cherish them forever.

Rosie is survived by a son: Jay (Jenny) Walters of Noblesville, Daughter: Pamela (Mark) Samide of Louisville, KY, 3 Grandsons: Adam (Lindsay) Walters of Traverse City, MI, Aaron (Lindsey) Samide of Louisville, KY, and Luke Walters of Dallas, TX, 4 Great-grandchildren: Jack, Wyatt & Grayce Walters and Madison Samide.

Rosie's family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main Street, Frankfort.
