THOMAS MOORE Obituary

THOMAS J. MOORE Westminster - Thomas J. Moore, 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, March 18, 2024, after a courageous battle with dementia. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Diane Moore; daughters Maegen McCaffrey & husband Tim of Clinton; Jennifer Cisneros & husband Lucas of Chelsea; son Brad Follansbee of Lancaster; grandchildren, Jack and Avery Follansbee, Campbell and Molly McCaffrey; his cousin Gerald Couture of Winchendon, extended family, and many dear friends. Tom was born in Winchendon, son of the late Thomas & Mary (Scalogna) Moore. He graduated from Murdock High School, Class of 1966, achieved his undergraduate degree from Fitchburg State University, a graduate degree from UMass Lowell, and proudly served our nation in the US Army National Guard. Tom spent his entire career as an elementary school teacher, guidance counselor, and administrator in both the public and private sector in Lancaster. As an avid outdoorsman, Tom often spent weekends hiking, camping, kayaking, and especially fishing in many rural areas throughout New England. He was a talented artist and woodworker, spending many hours carving, sanding, and enjoying his pipe, producing countless unique and beautiful sculptures. As an ardent reader, he loved books of every kind. He held a lifelong passion for music and enjoyed playing drums from an early age right through his final years. Tom held membership in the William S. Miller Post #174 American Legion in Westminster and proudly volunteered as den leader with the Clinton Cub Scouts. He supported many local and national organizations and was especially passionate about those supporting animals and the environment. Tom will be forever remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, and love of conversation. His family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the care and compassion provided by the nurses, aides, and Trinity hospice team at Sterling Village and the entire team in the Comfort Care Unit at HealthAlliance Hospital in Leominster. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the First Church of Lancaster, Unitarian Universalist, located at 725 Main St. Lancaster, MA. Memorial donations may be made to: On-Site Academy, PO Box 448, Westminster, MA 01473; the National Geographic Society, Advancement Office, 1145 17th Street NW, Washington, DC 20036; or NPR, NPR.org. richardsonfuneralhome.net

So sorry for your loss. It was great growing up with him. Our mothers were best friends, and my parent stood up for Mary she remarried. I am grateful we reconnected at Marilyn´s house a while back.

Truly sorry for the families loss. Mr. Moore was my 4th grade teacher. He is the only teacher I can remember. I told my kids how I would talk in his class and one day he picked me up and moved me to another seat. That was in 1975. I remember thinking he is the best looking teacher I have meet. Well he told my father I would not stop talking and my father told him I think she has a crush on you. Not sure if I stopped talking all the time. Though he didn´t pick me up and moved me any more. May God Bless him.
