Sadie Black Obituary

GASTONIA - Sadie Lytton Black, 88, of Gaston Manor, passed away on March 17, 2008.

She was born Feb. 28, 1920, in Gaston County, daughter of the late Zeth and Pearl Deaton Lytton.

A funeral service with Rev. Dick Whitener and Rev. Brett Boykin officiating will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Bessemer City.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Interment is at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.

Mrs. Black was retired from textiles. She was a generous and loving person who devoted her life to her family. We are so thankful and blessed to have had a mother so courageous who taught love by example, and who had the strength and wisdom to guide us through life as she has. We would like to extend special thanks to all who have given her love and support.

Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Roland D. Black and Faye of Oak Island; Jake E. Black, Jr. of Bessemer City; daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Richard Justice of Wake Forest, Helen and Jim Waters of Gastonia; she has eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jake E. Black, Sr.; and two brothers and seven sisters.

Memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice, P.O. Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054.
