Jennie Matysiewicz Obituary

FLORENCE - Jennie (Malczynski) "Blondie" Matysiewicz, 93, formerly of Burts Pit Road, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at the Birch Manor Nursing Home in Chicopee.

She was born Dec. 6, 1919, in the Mount Tom section of Easthampton, the daughter of the late John and Sophie (Tyks) Malczynski. She grew up and attended schools in Easthampton.

Blondie worked for many years as a seamstress at Lesnow in Easthampton. She was an avid sports fan and loved to watch the Red Sox and Bruins.

Blondie was predeceased by her husband Matthew Matysiewicz, her son Matthew, her brothers Edward Hynek, Henry Malczynski, Joseph Malczynski and Walter Malczynski and her sisters Antoinette Sadlowski and Stacia Kania.

She leaves her sisters Helen Lesko and her husband Victor of Hadley, and Irene Pula of Chicopee; her godchild Maryann; her grandchildren Michael and Laura; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Monday, with a calling hour from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Czelusniak funeral Home of Northampton followed by a Mass at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church at Annunciation Parish on Beacon Street in Florence. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Easthampton.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Birch Manor Nursing Home or to the Hospice at Birch Manor, 44 New Lombard Rd., Chicopee, MA 01029.
