John M. "Jack" Zimbrick, 83, died Friday at his home in Lebanon.
He was born in Lebanon, the son of John and Bado (Tharp) Zimbrick. He spent his entire life in Lebanon except for a few years in the Army during World War II. He spoke often of his service in Panama helping the war effort.
Jack was active in the Lebanon Elks Lodge and was a past Exalted Ruler. He was also active in the Rotary Club of Lebanon, where he served two terms as president, the Lebanon Chamber of Commerce and the Northwest Restauranteurs Association.
Jack owned and operated the Lebanon Dairy Queen for 46 years. He enjoyed his patrons at the Dairy Queen, was an avid fisherman, loved to hunt and enjoyed his family.
He married Lorraine Marden in Spokane, Wash., on Aug. 26, 1950. She died March 30, 2002.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Kathy Zimbrick of Corvallis; sister, Ruth M. Miller of Eugene, and grandchildren Lindsey and Billy Zimbrick.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. Private burial will follow at the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery.
