David Snapp Obituary

David Anthony Snapp

July 28, 1954 - May 5, 2022

David Anthony Snapp, of Fruita, passed away on May 5, 2022, at the HopeWest Hospice Care Center. He was 67.

David was born on July 28, 1954 in Bakersfield, California, to Coy and Wanda (Horn) Snapp. He spent his childhood in Shafter, California, and graduated from Shafter High School. David started work as a truck driver in 1973, and did that until 1978 when he went to work for Unocal, where he was employed until 1992. On April 17, 1981, David married Tina Evans in Rawlins, Wyoming. In 1983, they moved to Fruita, Colorado, where they have resided for the last 39 years. In 1985, they opened Snap Photo in Grand Junction, and they were the owners until 2020. In his free time, David enjoyed dirt bike riding, farming his 10 acres, and traveling to explore new places with Tina. But most of all, he enjoyed the time spent with family and friends.

David is survived by his wife, Tina, of Fruita; daughter, Amy (Steve) Williams, and their children, Kaelin, Merrick, and Jasmine, of Santee, California; stepson, Joshua Cook, and his children, Brandon and Violet, of Grand Junction; brother, Richard (Cindy) Snapp of Henderson, Nevada; and sister, Terry (Dave) Gilmore of Sanger, California. His parents, Coy Snapp and Wanda (Horn) Meyer; and his uncle, Wayne Horn, precede David in death.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.

Dave Snapp was the best! Dave and Tina hired me to work at Snap Photo when I was a teenager and kind of adopted me into their photo-family. Ever since my photo-adoption, these two wonderful human beings have been in my life for the past 28 + years. During my years working at Snap Photo - I would encounter the most wonderful experiences between Dave and his devoted customers. This little photo shop, in downtown, was often a place where people would pop in just to catch up with Dave & Tina about their life. Some of these customers were not even really paying customers, but people who just needed a friend or someone to listen to them. Dave was such an understanding and calm - small business owner. I believe I learned a lot about customer service from Dave Snapp. Dave was my boss but he also looked out for me like a father would. Throughout the years, I was blessed with Dave´s photoshop advice, financial advice and overall basic life advice. This man was so positive, optimistic, hilarious, genuine, caring and just overall wonderful. I am beyond devasted that Dave is no longer with us... but also really mad that he will not get to enjoy the retirement that he worked so hard for his entire life. Prior to opening Snap Photo, Dave worked with my Uncle Steven McKenney at UNOCAL from 1983-1991. That job should tell you what a tough guy Dave was. I´m thankful for everything that Dave taught me. I will miss his fantastic laugh, his bright smile and his warm bear hugs. XOXOXO Marisa

So sorry to hear this sad news. We had some fun dirt bike riding and camping out times together.
