Esther Ruth Marsh

1932 - 2024

Esther Ruth Marsh July 29, 1932 - June 7, 2024 Esther Marsh went to heaven on June 7, 2024. She was 91 years old. Her services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 15th, at the Gunnison Valley Church of the Nazarene located at 1721 H Road in Delta, Colorado. Interment will follow at the Delta City Cemetery.

Esther was born on July 29, 1932, in Redmond Missouri. She grew up in various locations throughout the Midwest and South as her father ministered at churches there. She graduated High School in St. Louis, Missouri.

She met her husband, Earl, at a summer youth camp, and they were married on November 27, 1952, in Beatrice, Nebraska. Esther remembers that a snowstorm delayed her brother-in-law who was to marry them, and they had to delay the ceremony a day. They were married for 69 years until Earl died in 2021.

Esther and Earl began their married life in Rifle, Colorado, moving shortly after to Grand Junction, Colorado where Earl began working at Meadow Gold Dairies. Esther lovingly took care of Earl, their home, and three children, Diane, Rick and Dan. The family moved to Delta, Colorado in 1970.

Esther loved music! She began playing the piano for church when she was 16 and continued to serve in churches as pianist for the rest of her life. She faithfully served God with her music but most importantly with the love she freely lavished on family and strangers alike. Her life will be remembered for her loving spirit and quick wit. She never ceased to appreciate outings with her family when she could no longer drive herself, commenting, "Jeepers, look at all that traffic! Jeepers, look at how that tree has grown!" To which her family would answer, "Jeepers!"

Esther is survived by her three children: daughter Diane Juncker (husband Ken Juncker,) son Rick Marsh (wife Tammy Marsh) and son Dan Marsh; her four grandchildren; Christa Gardner, Caitlin Gardner, Chandler Gardner and Isaac Marsh.

She is preceded in death by; her husband, Earl Marsh; her parents Sylvia Ruth (Cain)Carlton and William Edward Carlton; son-in-law Darrell Gardner; and sisters Reva Berg, Rita Gouker, Wanda Hunt and Joanne Stockcamp.

And finally, Esther's reminder to us all, "You be good!"
