Cecil Reyerson Obituary

Cecil Reyerson

July 18, 1944 - October 19, 2024

CLEAR LAKE - Cecil Reyerson, 80, of Clear Lake passed away October 19, 2024, at the IOOF Home in Mason City, Iowa after a courageous battle with dementia and cancer.

Per Cecil's wishes, the family will hold a private family graveside service at Silver Lake Cemetery, Northwood, Iowa.

Memorials may be sent to PO Box 1371, Mason City, IA 50401.

Cecil Larry was born July 18, 1944 to Clarence Leonard and Lila (Christianson) Reyerson in Mason City, Iowa. He attended Silver Lake country school and Mason City High School. Cecil's junior and senior years were completed at Northwood Kensett Community High School where he graduated in 1962.

Upon graduation Cecil married Sue Glaser and they were blessed with two children: Mike Reyerson and Julie (Reyerson) Zrostlik. Cecil attended barber school and worked in Cedar Falls, Iowa for one year.

In 1963, Cecil moved his family to Northwood and began his career at Carroll George, now ACT. At the time of his retirement in 2008, Cecil was a Shipping Supervisor. He prided himself in his 42 year career.

Cecil frequently shared the story of giving his 96 year old grandpa rides on his red scooter when he was 11 years old. Having Grandpa Reyerson live with his family was a favorite childhood memory.

When Cecil's parents passed, Cecil was surprised to learn from his birth certificate that his first name was Clifford. For forty plus years he thought his name was Cecil. It was a story he liked to share.

Cecil and Judy (Appelhons) were married January 1, 2005 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Dancing with Judy were some of Cecil's greatest memories. Their special song, May I Have This Dance for the Rest of My Life, a constant melody of their lives. Cecil enjoyed riding his motorcycle (twice to California to visit his son Mike), bowling in a local league and participating in car club outings with Judy. Over the years Cecil won many awards with his 1968 Ford Fairlane that was originally purchased by his parents. In 2015 Cecil and his car were featured in the Iowa Living Magazine. He has many trophies to prove the popularity of his car which has been in the family for four generations. Cecil's greatest love was his family. He loved visiting, attending the kids' and grandkids' activities and sporting events.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, Lila and Clarence Reyerson; grandson, Jordan Judkins; half sisters, Wilma Bendickson and Lovie Heizelman and half brother, Wally Anderson.

Cecil is survived by his wife Judy; son, Michael (Kendra) Reyerson; daughter, Julie (Michael) Zrostlik; step-daughter, Jodie (John) Judkins and step-son, Jeffrey (Danette) Hoeft; Cecil has 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
