Ernestine Johnson Obituary

DANVILLE, Va. - Ernestine Austin Johnson, 58, of 3000 North Main Street, Danville and formerly of Java, died Saturday, December 3, 2005 at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 14, 1946, in Halifax County, she was the daughter of Maude Tucker Austin and the late Roy Isaiah Austin.
She was a teacher at Gretna Middle School and was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Danville.
In addition to her mother, of Java, she is survived by one son, Eric Rodney Johnson Jr. of Capitol Heights, Md.; three sisters, Vivian Deborah Seay of Danville, Phyllis Antoinette Sekpeh of Nathalie and Bonita Austin Taylor of Upper Marlboro, Md.; and one brother, Andrew Phillip Austin of South Boston.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 9 at Elkhorn Baptist Church in Java with the Rev. Dr. C. Louis Motley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at the residence of Maude Austin, 1240 E. Elkhorn Rd., Java.
Jeffress Funeral Home, South Boston is in charge of arrangements.

I have worked with Ernestine for 10 years at GMS. I will think of her everytime I park and will always think of the space behind me as hers. I am so glad we shared those moments. Thank you for always making me feel good and being a friend. To the family, God Bless You, she will be missed.

My heart is heavy today as I learned of Ernestine's passing. Ernestine was a good friend and co-worker. Not a day passed that she did not have a smile on her face. She loved life and made life pleasant for thoses she worked with. She is missed. My prayers and thoughts are with you. I find peace in knowing she is with our Lord. "Dolly" was a very good friend in time of need. We sung in the Gospel Chorus together atBeulah Baptist Church. I will never forget that "alto" voice. She was also a dedicated teacher.
