Jerome Anthony Calvitti, known to some by Jerry, 69, of 109 Charles Towne Drive, Danville, Va., passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at his residence after being in declining health for the past nine years.
Mr. Calvitti was born in Newark, New Jersey, on July 9, 1952, a son of the late Pasquale Calvitti and Elvira Pavin Calvitti. He spent most of his life in the Danville area where he worked as a clerk for USPS in Martinsville, Va., until his retirement after 20 years of service. He also served his country in the United States Army and was a lifetime member of the VFW.
Mr. Calvitti was known as the "Mayor" of the Charles Towne community and he enjoyed attending the Charles Towne Friday Lunch Club. He was a wonderful person who loved to help his fellow neighbor.
On November 19, 1977, he married, Susan Marie Jenks Calvitti, who survives of the residence.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Calvitti is survived by his siblings, Frank, Rosie, Pat, Veronica, Clara, Nancy, John, David, Robin, Robert, Tom, Greg, Irene, and Lynn. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Richie.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
The family will be at the residence, 109 Charles Towne Drive, Danville, VA 24541.
Memorial donations can be made to the Danville/Pittsylvania County Cancer Association at 223 Riverview Dr. Suite J, Danville, VA 24541.

Our son purchased your former farm, a place you two maintained wonderfully and we know it pained you so much to have to let it go. Susan, I haven't seen you or Jerry for many years, he worked for me at Martinsville. I became postmaster of Axton about the time you and Jerry also moved to Axton. He was a fun guy, but I had no idea his family was so large: 16 kids, is that right? Poor Mom. I am sorry to hear of his passing, but I did know his health had been failing. Take care of yourself.
