Juan Mesa Obituary

SAN ANGELO Juan Flores Mesa, 75, joined our Heavenly Father on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010. Juan was born June 24, 1935, in Colorado City, Texas, to Benita and Rosendo Mesa. Juan lived in Colorado City for many years. After leaving Colorado City, he lived in Big Spring, Monahans and Kermit before settling in San Angelo. He worked for San Angelo I.S.D until his retirement. Juan was a person that never met a stranger. He was loved by all and his favorite pastimes were his great-grandchildren and his love for fishing. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Tiger Woods fan. He will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his son, Johnny Mesa Jr.; and two brothers, Lonnie and Marcelo Mesa. Juan is survived by his wife, Analda; a son, Abel Mesa and wife Frances of San Antonio; daughter-in-law Judy Mesa; grandchildren Josh Mesa and wife Alma of San Angelo, Chad Mesa of Fresno, Calif., Matt Mesa of Fort Worth, Texas, and Arthur, John and Marissa Mesa, all of San Antonio, Texas. He leaves behind his pride and joy, his two great-grandchildren, Aramis and Aiden (Chinkis) Mesa of San Angelo. He also leaves behind his brothers and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews who all loved him dearly. Visitation was Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, with a rosary that evening in the Shaffer Funeral Home chapel located at 1939 Sherwood Way. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with interment to follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way. Many, many thanks to Hospice of San Angelo and Becky Hernandez for all of their help.

Tio Juan, although I had not seen you or Tia Nalda in years since we all moved away from Kermit, your family is always in my thoughts, prayers and heart. Tia Nalda and you were always so kind to my mother and my sisters, I have never forgotten your kindness. You will be missed, just as Johnny Lee has been missed, but you will once again be together.
