SAN ANGELO - Kenneth Ray May, 77, of San Angelo died Saturday, June 25, 2005, at his residence. Service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Barbara Dykes, Kalton May and Harland May officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Kenneth was born June 8, 1928, to Ray and Zona May in Decatur, Ill. He married Iva Lea Stamps on Feb. 19, 1952, in Houston, Texas, and together they raised four children while moving around Texas pursuing his career in sales, eventually settling in San Angelo. Survivors include his devoted wife of 53 years, Iva Lea May of San Angelo; sons Kalton May of San Angelo, and Kraig May and wife Tammy of Dallas; daughters Kandace Jay and husband Deryl of Lubbock, and Kathleen Dill and husband Rick of Paint Rock; nine grandchildren; and sisters Margie Crider and husband Albert of Maineville, Ohio, and Norma Bearden of Houston. He will be fondly remembered and missed by all. His lifelong love of learning was nurtured at Lamar High in Houston and The University of Texas at Austin, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. He attended San Marcos Baptist Academy, a military and college preparatory program, and proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He trained at Johns Manville Sales, received a number of salesmanship honors while working with Bible House Inc., and later went into business for himself as Catholic Educational Guild. He took a personal interest in each of his customers, made many friends wile visiting at the senior citizens center and had friends from all walks of life. His favorite pastimes were reading, dominoes and his grandchildren. He also had a great appreciation for the culinary and music, and loved hearing and telling a good joke. His family would like to express a special appreciation for the thoughtful and prayerful care that Kenneth received from Dr. Fazlur Rahman, the compassionate staff at San Angelo Community Hospital and Hospice of San Angelo. The family suggests memorials to the
American Cancer Society. Pallbearers will be grandsons Gary Floyd, Chris Floyd, John Jay, Jeff Jay, Gregg Turner and Harland May, and close friend Sean Carter.
