Nelda Don Covington Holden

JUSTIN Nelda Don Covington Holden, 80, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, in Justin Texas. She was born Feb. 2, 1930, to Euna Maurine Gilly and Thomas Monroe Covington in Brownwood, Texas. She was the third of seven children. Nelda was a Christian raised in a Baptist church. She worked as a hostess at Cattleman's Steakhouse in Fort Worth, Texas. In the 60's, she and her family moved to San Angelo, Texas, where she became a hair dresser and cosmetologist. The 70's took her further west to Midland, Texas, where she was employed at a gas company. She retired there. She then moved to Justin to live with one of her daughters, Cynthia and her family. Nelda loved to dance and had a very contagious laugh. She has three children, Deborah Jean Wilson of Allen, Cynthia Ann Currie and husband Mark of Justin and Stephen Travis Holden and wife Cheryl of Cypress. Her grandchildren are Robert William Bruce II and wife Karen of McKinney, Barrett Brockston Bruce of Burleson, Cody Paul Wilson and wife Heather of Frisco, Kifany Wilson of Austin, Andie Ray of Cypress, Logan and Olivia Currie. Great-grandchildren are Robert Ray, Elizabeth Claire, Emily Ann Bruce, Holden, Hadley and Hayes Wilson. She was comforted by her daughter, Cynthia, and son-in-law Mark with her loving poodles Paris, Tootsie and Frosty. She was lovingly known as Mums and will be immensley missed by all. Nelda has two brothers, Guy and Harold Covington; and was preceeded in death by her parents; two sisters, Bonnie and Pasty; and two brothers, Billy Joe and Bobby Gene Covington. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, at The Rock Church (Lucas Funeral Home), 305 First St., Justin, Texas, 76247, with Chaplain John Dickey officiating.
