Orlin Lee Ten Cate, age 83 of Grand Haven, Michigan, formerly Minneapolis, Minnesota, lost his earthly battle with dementia on Saturday, November 11, 2023. Orlin was welcomed to his heavenly reward by his Savior Jesus Christ, in whom his faith remained strong even through the progression of his dementia.
Orlin was born on April 16, 1940, in Edgerton, Minnesota, to Peter and Eleanor (Fey) Ten Cate. He married his high school sweetheart, Alyce DeBoer, on May 4, 1962, and they celebrated 60 years of marriage with their children and grandchildren in the summer of 2022.
Orlin was employed by Investors Diversified Services (now American Express) for nearly 40 years. He and Alyce moved to West Michigan after his retirement in 1998 in order to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Orlin is survived by his loving and faithful wife, Alyce; sons: David (Mary, nee Kingma), and their children: Will (and his fiancée, Hannah Sheridan), Eden, and Jaclyn; Michael (Lt. Col. USMC retired), and his children, Isabelle and Ben; and Thomas (LeeAnn, nee Donlan), and their children, Tommy and Michael; Orlin's brothers, James (Nancy) and Robert (Sandy) Ten Cate; and Alyce's six siblings: Pier, Beth, Henry, Joan, Melvin and Gladi. Orlin was preceded in death by his parents; as well as his siblings: Harold, Yvonne and Beverly.
The Memorial Service for Orlin will take place at 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2023, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Marshall Holtvluwer officiating. Visitation will be held just prior to the service from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Luke Society. Please visit www.klaassenfuneralhome.com to sign Orlin's online guestbook.

There are no words. I only hope that the pain of uncle Orlin's loss will quickly be replaced by happy memories of his life. Where he is now there is no more pain or confusion, just love and comfort. My thoughts are with your entire family.
