1928 - 2020

Brouwer, Harvard Grand Rapids, MI Harvard Brouwer, age 92, of Grand Rapids, was called home to our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 29, 2020. Harv was born in 1928 in Drenthe, Michigan to John and Dena Brouwer. He graduated from Zeeland High School and served in the US Army. He married Marion H. Van Genderen from Clifton, New Jersey on August 20, 1953. She preceded him in death. Harv will be lovingly remembered by his children and grandchildren: Kathy (Larry) Wells of Caledonia (Jennifer Henshaw, Jeffrey Knol, Jonathan (Lauren) Knol); Brian (Janice) Brouwer of San Diego, (Marissa Brouwer, Scott (Sherene) Brouwer); Karla (Daniel) Harris of Cincinnati, (Philip Harris, Stephanie (Kyle) Studebaker); Tim (Laura) Brouwer of Grand Rapids, (Christopher Brouwer, Brendan Brouwer, Mallory Brouwer); his step-grandsons: Bradley(Iryna) Wells, Nickolas Wells, Douglas (Audrey) Wells, David (Kayla) Wells, and many great grandchildren. He is survived by his siblings Alma DeKock of Zeeland and Floyd (Ann) Brouwer of Jenison. Harv worked in engineering and project management at Lear Siegler (Smith Industries, GE) for 37 years. He was a passionate Christian witness and was very involved in Plymouth Heights CRC and the Sylvan Christian School Board (K-9). In recent years he remained active in Christian prison ministries. He and Marion enjoyed traveling and did extensive road trips in their RV, and spent winters in Bradenton, Florida. Harv poured his energy into the community life at Raybrook Estates, leading hymn sings, providing devotions, and volunteering to coordinate any technical and audio needs. He was a humble handyman to anyone who had technical issues. He was always ready to lend a helping hand with a compassionate heart. A private service will be held Saturday, January 2, 2021 for his immediate family. The service will be Live Streamed, beginning at 10 AM, by typing in www.vimeo.com/zaagman which will bring you directly to the site.
