James Anthony Wenninger

1938 - 2020

James “Jim” A. Wenninger, 82, Green Bay, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020. He was born May 21, 1938 at home in Outagamie County to Edward and Josephine (Esauk) Wenninger. Jim graduated West DePere High School where he excelled in Track and Field. He held the pole-vaulting record for many years. After high school, Jim served in the National Guard. Upon his return from the service, he married Gail Frericks on October 20, 1962. Jim received his degree in barbering from the vocational school and started his rewarding career as a barber. For over 60 years Jim truly enjoyed going to work to chat with his clients that easily became his friends. He owned Jim’s West Mason Barbershop until his health forced him into retirement. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. He and his family enjoyed restoring the woodwork throughout their home. Jim had a good sense of humor. Jim is survived by his wife, Gail; three sons, David (Trink Piontek), Tim (Mary Prosek), Glen (Jody Patrie); seven grandchildren, Alexandria (Mack Wood), Elizabeth, Katherine, Nicholas, Chelsea, Ethan, Sydney; two brothers, Robert (Noreen) Wenninger, Ronald Wenninger; a sister, Rosemary Hertzfeld; a brother-in-law, Thomas (Betsy) Frericks; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter-in-law, Karen Wenninger; a brother and sister-in-law, Harold (Patricia) Wenninger, a sister-in-law, Jean Wenninger; a brother-in-law, Melvin Hertzfeld. Private family service will be held.
