Wawrzyn, Mark T.
Mark Thomas Wawrzyn, age 65 of Green Bay, formerly of Pulcifer, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016. Born on November 26, 1950 in Milwaukee, Mark is the only child of his late parents, Tom and Gloria (Haut) Wawrzyn. At a young age, he moved with his parents to Pulcifer and began helping with his family's Sport Shop and Tavern. This was also when he began his lifelong love of fishing and spending time with friends. He met the love of his life, Barb (Steichen), during high school at a Shawano County Park dance and they were later married on September 26, 1970. Through marriage he gained four brothers-in-law that would become his close friends. Mark and Barb started their family soon after marriage, with their first daughter, Ann. Five years later, they added to their family with their second daughter, Amy. Mark's carpentry skills were put to good use when he helped build his family's home in 1976 in Pulcifer. Mark enjoyed golfing and spending time with his friends and family and always seemed to be the life of the party. He especially loved being "up north" in the St. Germain area enjoying a pontoon boat ride with friends or sitting around the fire with his wife, Barb. There he made many more new life-long friends and enjoyed spending time on Lost Lake. He enjoyed going for car rides with his wife, Barb, and stopping at small taverns and visiting with friends or watching his favorite team, the Green Bay Packers. Friends and family alike, know Mark for his Old-Fashioneds, his love for Patsy Cline, and his uncanny ability to replicate a crowing rooster on his front porch. Mark was a proud Grandpa to four grandchildren: Danny, Macee, Lily, and Aiden and he passed along his love for fishing and the outdoors to them. He retired from the US Postal Service in 2012, but more importantly he enjoyed doing home-improvement projects for himself or helping others with projects. Most recently during his retirement, he also worked for the Green Bay Packers in housekeeping services. A job he enjoyed since it afforded him the opportunity to be so close to the turf action and work with great people. After moving to Green Bay a few years ago, Barb and Mark made new friends with their neighbors at the Canterbury Creek community. Fortunately, Mark was able to enjoy his view of the lake and wildlife from his patio, which is something he cherished and appreciated.
Mark is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Barb; his daughters, Ann (Mike) Jacobson of Wayzata, MN, Amy (Derek) Erickson of Germantown WI; four grandchildren, Danny, Macee, Lily and Aiden; his mother-in-law, Doris Steichen; his three brothers-in-law, Brent Steichen (special friend, Jan Raddant), Brian Steichen, and Bob (Geri) Steichen; sisters-in-law, Jan Maddin, Diane Steichen, Debbie Steichen; aunts, Martha (Joe) Polito and Donna Haut; uncle, Richard (Beverly) Steichen; nieces, Jamie Steichen, Stacy (Andy) Hooyman, Steffany Steichen, Jennifer Steichen, Amber Steichen, Cassie Steichen, Audra (Jared) Nyquist, and Emily (Ryan) Davies; nephews; Jason (Mindy) Steichen, Jeff Steichen, Rob Steichen, Brad Steichen, and Todd (Amanda) Polito; cousins, Elise Wawrzyn, John Wawrzyn, and Phil Wawrzyn; as well as many close friends, including Jay Stark, Skip and Fran Raisor, Milt and Shirley Grimm, Ron Tollefson, Craig Carlson, and Jerry Loehlein.
Mark has joined his father-in-law and friend, William "Bill" Steichen; his brother-in-law and close friend, Alan Steichen; and his parents Gloria and Tom Wawrzyn. Family and friends believe they are all enjoying an Old Fashioned and toasting to a life of family, friends, and fun. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI for their attentive and conscientious care of Mark over the past month.
