XENIA Robert P. Miller, 88, of Xenia, passed away Saturday morning, June 1st at Greenewood Manor, where he had been a resident since February 2009. He was born August 3, 1924 in Ashe County, North Carolina, to Edward and Emma Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Mildred (Bradshaw) Miller; sisters Cynthia, Edna, Ella and Ruth; and brothers Alfred, Carl and Fred.Surviving are one brother Dall (Naomi) Miller of Beavercreek, Ohio; sisters Ida Mash and Jackie Roark of Ashe Co., North Carolina; locally, nephews Edwin (Kathy) Miller and children Andrew and Kristina; nephew Randy (Sandy) Miller and children Sean (Kelli) and Adam; niece Kathie (Dwight) Salyers and children Brandon (Amber) and Darren (Jessica); brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Beauford and Betty Mash, Vic and Louise Saccone; niece Vicki (Tom) Schafer and children Bethany (Jesse) Rubio and Jessica Schafer; nephew Vallas (Sherri) Mash and daughters Elizabeth and Miranda; great-great nephews Malachi and Mason Rubio; and many other cousins, nieces and nephews. Robert served his country during World War II. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Christ, Jamestown, Ohio for many years, but more recently had attended Patterson Park Church in Beavercreek. Robert was known to many in the area as the owner/operator of the Sohio Station on Home Avenue and later operated the Sohio Station on Lower Bellbrook Road, Xenia. He worked for McClain Excavating for a number of years before retirement. Robert loved family events, attending and serving in his church, auto mechanical work, softball, golfing, hunting, fishing, some traveling, Reds baseball, UNC Tar Heels basketball, and singing Bluegrass gospel with his brother and brother-in-law. He was much loved and will be greatly missed. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Greenewood Manor staff for their years of care and kindness; to Dr. Ronald Taylor and Dr. Kahlon for their medical care; and to Hospice of the Miami Valley for their compassionate care of him in his final days and hours. Funeral services will be held at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St, Xenia on Thursday, June 6, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mark Brooks officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at Silvercreek Twp. Cemetery, Jamestown.
