Betty Savage Obituary
October 10, 1938 - January 6, 2023
Betty Jane Paulling Savage, 84, died Friday, January 6, 2023 at Moses Cone Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 3 o'clock Friday, January 13, 2023 at Forbis & Dick Guilford Chapel. The family will receive friends before the service, beginning at 2 o'clock.
Mrs. Savage was born October 10, 1938, in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Frances Milton Paulling and Isabell Walker Paulling. She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin Baxter Savage in 1978.
Betty Jane grew up in Columbia, South Carolina, where she attended the University of South Carolina. Betty Jane went on to become a flight attendant for Delta Airlines and during that time she met the love of her life, Edwin Baxter Savage. Together they had two children, and following her husband's death, her children became her whole life until her three granddaughters came along.
Betty Jane retired from Belks Department Store. She attended Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. When she and Baxter and her family first moved to Greensboro, she played bridge and was a member of a few bowling leagues. Most recently, she loved watching western movies.
Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Majors and husband, Ronnie; her son, Jeffrey W. Savage, all of Greensboro; sister, Barbara Paulling; brother, Richard Paulling and wife, Paula, all of Columbia, SC, her three granddaughters, Frances, Abby, and Callie Majors; niece Julie Paulling Bjugan and family; nephew Scott Paulling and family. She is also survived by the families of her late aunt and uncle, Helen and Vernon Daughtry, the Leverette family, the Haywood family, and the Daughtry family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cone Health, attn. Gift Processor, 1200 N. Elm St., Greensboro, NC 27401; make check payable to: Heart and Vascular General Fund in Memory of Betty P. Savage.
