Dorothy Louise Poindexter Rice

MAYODAN Dorothy Louise Poindexter Rice, Mayodan, NC, passed away January 29, 2019. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, February 3, 2019, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Ronald Roach officiating. One of 15 children born to Hardin W. Poindexter and Luna Belle Strader Poindexter, Louise delighted in her role as a sister. She loved to laugh and she always had a fresh pot of coffee waiting for family. Her greatest devotion was to her four sons and she lived out her faith in Christ through her love and support for them. She leaves a legacy of unconditional love and kindness for every life she touched. Louise loved spending time supporting her family and could be found at many music festivals watching her family and sons play music. She was deeply loved by all who knew her, especially her family. She will remain in our hearts forever. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Rice; son, Larry Rice; great-granddaughter, Paris Davis; sisters, Doris Poindexter, Mary P. Tilley, Nelva P. Roach; brothers, Walter Poindexter and Clarence Poindexter. She is survived by her sons, Tony (Pam) Rice of Reidsville, NC, Ronnie (Terry) Rice of Falls Church, VA, Wyatt (Diane) Rice of Damascus, VA; grandchildren, Pam Davis of Mansfield, OH, Travis Rice of Crystal River, FL, Jared Rice, Jordan Rice of Greensboro, NC; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty P. Faber, Linda P. Davis, Alice P. (Fred) Cox of Reidsville, NC, Susan P. (Ernie) Doyle of Pelham, NC, Angela P. Garrett of High Point, NC; brothers, Leon (Jan) Poindexter of Pigeon Forge, TN, Floyd (Betty Ann) Poindexter of Danville, VA, Hardin Poindexter, Jr., "Hal" (Joyce) of Reidsville, NC, Frank (Pam) Poindexter of Monroe, NC.
