Pettit, Margaret Cheek

June 29, 1934 - August 1, 2021

Margaret Cheek Pettit, 87, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC. She was born in Chatham County to the late Clarence and Eva Johnson Cheek. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved to bake, read, shop, and work in her yard.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Percy Dark Sr., husband Wayne Pettit, brother C.B. Cheek, and sister Mary Smith.

She is survived by her daughters Sharon Guenther (Keith) of Wilkesboro and Cindy Kent of Greensboro; grandchildren Matthew Guenther (Sierra) of Wilkesboro and Jamie Kent of Greensboro; great-grandchildren Wyatt and Callie Guenther; brothers Charles Cheek and Percy Dark Jr., both of Siler City.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Forbis and Dick Guilford Chapel, 5926 W. Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27410. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Flowers will be appreciated, or memorials donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 101 Centreport Drive. Suite 100, Greensboro, NC 27409 or to a favorite charity of your choice.
