BROWNS SUMMIT Martin "Marty" Jasper Carty, 62, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 28, 2019. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at Reedy Fork Baptist Church on Saturday, February 2, 2019, with Pastor Jeff Porter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday evening at the church on February 1, 2019. Born in Guilford County on February 11, 1956, Marty was an active member and associate pastor at Reedy Fork Baptist Church. He worked as a paramedic for Guilford County, where he received several prestigious awards. Later in life, his time was consumed by his devotion to his pastorship at the church. Marty was a man of many interests and talents, never meeting a stranger, sharing his wonderful sense of humor with all those around him. Marty was a member of the Civitans, the Alamance Long Gunners, and was an accomplished dancer and writer. He was an avid hunter and sportsman, doing extensive travel over the United States to participate in various hunts. Marty did extensive medical research with MS patients with EMSI (Examination Management Services Inc.). He was a loving and devoted husband, father, fiancé, brother, co-worker, and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Carty, and his wife, Pamela Carty. Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Adam Ray Carty and Alexander Frank Carty; his mother, Ruth Carty; sisters, Gilda Barley (Tody), Dreama Anderson (Neal), and Angela Kenan (John); brothers, Kenny Carty (Inez) and Eric Carty; fiancée and soulmate, Lisa Alley; several nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.
