Susan Lamoureux Obituary

Lamoureux, Susan Elaine

June 28, 1958 - February 18, 2024

Susan Elaine Lamoureux of Greensboro died on February 18, 2024, in Greensboro, NC. She was predeceased in death by; her sister Michelle S. Lamoureux, mother Wynson M. Sharby, and her father Paul E. Lamoureux. She is survived by her son Travis R. Hansen of High Point, and her daughter Chelsea R. Hansen of Charlotte.

Susan was born June 28, 1958, in Greenfield, Massachusetts. She was a graduate of Page High School class of 1976, she attended UNC Chapel Hill from 1976 to 1977, and obtained an associate degree in graphic design from Greensboro Technical Community College in 1980. Art was a hobby for her at an early age and this passion grew into a career in graphic design. She worked at Gilbarco, Inc. from 1980 to 2002 before moving on to a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Susan also worked at the Greensboro Science Center and was a volunteer with Meals on Wheel of Guilford County.

Susan was an open minded and creative person who brought personality and good humor to all aspects of her life, spanning from her interactions with loved ones to her home decor. Examples of her decor included a backwards clock, homemade dream catchers, personal artwork, and lifelike bobbleheads made in the image of her friends and family. Memories of her goofiness included conspiring with her children to prank their grandparents, going out on the town with her friends in costumes, and goofing-off in the restaurant where she and her friends worked as teenagers.

She inspired a belief in wonder in her children and went to great lengths to convince them of the existence of Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy. She negotiated with them about providing healthier snacks for Santa Claus and alternative gift ideas for the Tooth Fairy when she forgot to go to the ATM.

Susan also loved movies and spent many hours in the theaters watching every new movie that was released. She even named her dog Django after the 2012 Quentin Tarantino movie, Django Unchained.

Susan's passion for levity and antics inspired her loved ones to keep that part of her alive in them, serving as a reminder to enjoy the simple things in life and to be present in the moment as much as possible. She will be sorely missed.

A memorial service will be held at Forbis & Dick Funeral Service, Guilford Chapel, 5926 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro, NC on Saturday, March 16 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends starting at 10 a.m. also at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow the service at Westminster Gardens Cemetery at 12:15 p.m.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Susan was the kindest, most caring person I knew. She was caring for me when my husband died. I am heartbroken to learn of her passing. She will be sorely missed. Godspeed angel...
