Dannis Greene Obituary
Sumter
Dr. Dannis Harold "Dan" Greene, 62, husband of Donna Thompson Greene, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born in Six Mile, SC, he was the son of the late Robert Greene and the late Christine Porter Greene. He was a graduate of Anderson College and received an honorary doctorate degree in music from Florida State University. Dan was an accomplished musician and served as a church organist and pianist for 50 years in various churches. He was a member of Six Mile Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Megan Michelle Johnson and Sara Durham; two grandchildren, Tristan Smith and Josiah Goldsmith; his father-in-law, Harold Thompson; brother-in-law, Buddy Thompson (Becky); and nephews, Charlie Thompson (Caroline) and Evan Thompson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Ron Bower officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Six Mile Baptist Church Music Ministry, 149 North Main St., Six Mile, SC 29682 or the American Cancer Society, 950 48th Avenue North, Suite 101, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.

Hey Donna, We were so surprised and saddened when we saw Dan's obituary. I know we have lost touch over the years but Deb and I still look fondly over the many nights playing cards and especially those fishing trips Dan and I took. Please accept our heartfelt sorrow and love for you and the girls during this difficult time. Although we grew apart the last few years I still consider Dan one of my best friends in life. God bless you.

I am surprised we cannot hear Danny playing the most beautiful music ever while Christine (his mother) and Harold (his father) are singing right along beside him! I know Mr and Mrs Porter were there waiting with open arms. May God Bless Danny's family-is my prayer! Please accept my heartfelt sympathy.
