Dorothy Heidt Obituary

Dorothy Dean Heidt, 83, formerly of 23 Jones Ave., passed away on Saturday, Dec. 28, in Mt. Airy, N.C.

Born in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Myron Alexander and Frances Jeanette Milam Dean.

Mrs. Heidt was a graduate of Brevard College and was also the Executive Secretary for the City Manager of Greenville from 1962 - 1984. She was also secretary for the Civil Service Commission.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Marshall and Theresa Heidt of Mount Airy, N.C., and five grandchildren, Amy Heidt of New York, N.Y., Brooks Sloan of Columbia, S.C., Jay Heidt of Mt. Airy, N.C., Eric Heidt of College Station, Texas, and Corey Heidt of Sugarland, Texas. She was predeceased by a son, David W. Heidt, and a daughter, Jenny Heidt Sloan.

Visitation will be held tonight from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Services will be held on Tuesday at Fourth Presbyterian Church at 1:30 p.m. with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park section CC.

Memorials may be made to Fourth Presbyterian Church 703 E. Washington St., Greenville, SC 29601, Greenville Humane Society 328 Furman Hall Road, Greenville, SC. 29609, or Surry Humane Society 230 W. Fredrick St., Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
