Joseph Weber Obituary

Dr. Joseph Robert Weber, of 201 Londonberry Drive, Anderson, SC, died Thursday, July 27, 2006, at the Hospice House in Anderson, SC.

He was born in Charleston, S.C., son of the late Joseph R. Weber and Alice Kelly Weber. He was a minister for fifty years, pastoring churches in Kentucky, South Carolina, and Brazil, and was Pastor Emeritus of Forest Hill Baptist Church in Anderson, S.C. He was involved in missions in Alaska, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Brazil. He retired as President of Connie Maxwell Children's Home, and was a trustee of the Founding Board of Trustees at Charleston Southern University, where he served for 17 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was honored to be Chaplain for a day for the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C. He was educated at Newberry College, University of Louisville, and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mildred Wall Weber; and daughters, Carol McCombs, Anderson, S.C. and Jolene Smith, Charleston, S.C. Daughter, Pamela Weber is deceased. Grandsons are Jonathan McCombs, his wife, Christie, and their two sons, Avery and Chase; Jared McCombs and Laird Smith; a sister, Jacqueline Kearse and husband, G.H. Kearse, of Allendale; a brother, William L. Weber and his wife, Margie, of Charleston; several nieces and nephews.

The family will be at 201 Londonberry Drive, and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday, July 29, 2006, from 6 to 8 p.m. Dr. Weber will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, July 30, 2006, at 3 p.m. at Forest Hill Baptist Church, 909 Plantation Road, Anderson, SC. Ministers will be Rev. Paul Langston, Rev. Dr. Ben Davis and Rev. Danny Hawkins. Honorary pallbearers will be pastors, deacons and special friends. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson, S.C.
