William Ellis Obituary

William Burwell Ellis IV, 55, son of Julia Baarcke Ellis and the late William B. Ellis III and the late Mary Brown Mahon Ellis, died Wednesday, December 20, 2006.

Mr. Ellis graduated from Greenville Senior High School, and attended the University of South Carolina. He lived in Atlanta for many years.

He was a bank consultant and a director of The Kent Richard Hofmann Foundation, an organization which gives grants for health education and outreach. He was also on the board of Neighborhood Planning Unit and the Morningside-Lenox Park Neighborhood Planning Association.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Ellis McClenaghan, and her husband, Van, and two nieces, Elizabeth Ellis McClenaghan and Caroline "Carrie" Jackson McClenaghan.

Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2310 Augusta Street, Greenville, SC 29605, or to the charity of one's choice.

Graveside services will be Friday, December 22, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park, conducted by the Reverend Ludwig Weaver.

The family will be at the home of his mother, Julia B. Ellis, 4 Marshall Court, Greenville.
