Francis J. Sisca
April 2, 2023
Francis Joseph Sisca, 95, beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, counselor and friend to many passed away peacefully on Palm Sunday, April 2, 2023, at his home in Greenwich, CT with loved ones by his side. He was born and raised in Port Chester, NY and moved his family to Greenwich in 1965. He attended Port Chester public schools and Blessed Sacrament High School in New Rochelle, NY. Upon graduation, at 17, he enlisted in the US Navy and proudly served until his honorable discharge in 1946. He attended Utica College of the Syracuse University and completed one year at Fordham Law School until inducted into the US Army. He was honorably discharged in 1953 as a Second Lieutenant. He then completed his law degree at New York Law School and was admitted to the NY Bar in June 1957. He thereafter engaged in private general practice as an attorney in the local community, and became well-known and well-respected, continuing to practice law into his 90s. Frank served as Counsel to the Port Chester-Rye School District since 1971 for nearly 50 years. Frank was very proud of his military service and his service as School District Counsel, as well as service on several civic organizations, including the Knights of Columbus, 40-40 Club, and the Leukemia Society of America.
Frank loved spending time in the Adirondacks with the family; from a young age at Fourth Lake with his many cousins and then later at his homes on Lake George with family and friends, playing tennis, skiing, water skiing and boating. Most of all, his life revolved around spending time with his large extended family. There was never a holiday missed with many family members present, and it became his greatest legacy.
Frank leaves behind by his wife Vera of 68 years, his five children, Peter (Carol), Marisa (deceased 2004), her son Dustyn, Lee Longo (Joseph), Francis (Elizabeth), Robert (Jennifer); 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Frank is also survived by his sister, Angelina Gillingham (John, deceased), her five children, Stephen (Susan), Elizabeth Burch (Jay), Cathy Freeman (Michael), Barbara Mariano (Fred) and Sally Checca (Stephen). His sister, Marguerite Riposanu (Pamfil) (her husband predeceased him); and he is also survived by his niece, Ann TerHarr (Jan) and his many cousins whom he loved.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Knights of Columbus, 37 West Putnam Ave., Greenwich, CT 06830, in Frank's memory.
