Prentiss Gully Floore, known to friends as "PG," passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side on March 16, 2022, in Pascagoula, Mississippi. His recent battles with medical issues showed his courage in facing life's challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Prentiss came out as a hero and stayed strong until the end. Born December 29, 1937, to Anderson George and Grace Palmer Floore in the small community of Preston, Mississippi, he was one of 11 children. A lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast, he relocated to Moss Point in 1957 to work for the International Paper Company and help take care of his siblings after their parents passed. While working at IP, his self-starter, entrepreneurial instincts led him to purchase his first business, Kreole Station. His intense ambition and vision didn't stop there. He then opened Faye's Grocery and Liquor store, which was always a favorite of his grandchildren due to the unlimited supply of Slush Puppies. In 1982, he and his wife Faye, purchased Lakeview. For 34 years, he and his family were blessed to serve their community and make many friends along the way. In 1994, he started Floore Industrial Contractors, where he worked until his passing. His family meant more to him than anything else. He worked hard to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. For Prentiss, the word family did not just mean blood relatives. Throughout his life, he made many friends who became just as close to him as family. Some of his happiest days were spent with his loved ones gathering for holiday celebrations, most notable the Floore family Christmas Eve and the Floore family reunion. Thucydides wrote, "What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others." In his 84 years, Prentiss's generosity of spirit made such a difference in the lives of so many. His many family, friends, employees, colleagues, and clients will forever remember his kind smile, giving nature, and enduring love for life. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Faye Floore; daughter, Marlene Newburn; grandson, Preston Floore; granddaughter, Melissa Parks; great granddaughter, Adelyn Tucker; brothers, Guy & Robert; sisters Mary, Betty, Francis, Lottie, & Bobbie. He leaves behind his sons: Mark Floore & Duran Parks; daughters Teresa (Kenny) Sellers & Darlene (Gary) Tucker. Grandchildren: Holly (Wesley) Hall, London Floore, Caymon Floore, John Tyler (Sumerlea) Sellers, Savannah (Duncan) Langston, Angela (Daryl) Hunt, Kailey (Layton) Lambert, Deanna (Tommy) Chisholm, Ashley Tucker, Steve Newburn Jr, Chris Newburn, Christy Newburn, Amy Newburn and Brent Newburn. 34 Great-Grandchildren and 15 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
