Michael Torres Obituary
Michael is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lorraine (Perez) Torres, and his mother Mickey S. Torres both of Hanford, several aunts and uncles and numerous cousins in the states of California, New Mexico and Arizona. He was preceded in death by his father in January 2011 and his infant brother Rudy.
Michael graduated from Roosevelt High School in Fresno in 1970, Fresno City College in 1972 and California State University, Fresno with a BA Degree in 1974. Michael was employed as a youth counselor at Bob Mathias Boys Camp during summers throughout his college days. Michael worked at the Proteus office located in Hanford. In 1974 Michael started working at the Kings County Probation Department as a transport officer and part time group supervisor. Michael worked his way up the ranks; starting as a probation officer, then unit supervisor over the court unit, rotated into field officer supervisor, director of the Kings County Juvenile Center, director of the work furlough program, and the commander at the Kings County Boot Camp. Michael retired in 2006 after 32 years of service as a deputy chief probation officer. Michael enjoyed traveling, following Fresno State football, with a group of dedicated fans that went out of state to support the Fresno State Bulldogs going to Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, Ohio, Louisiana and many other states.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, June 23, 2011 from 5-6:30 p.m. with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Whitehurst-McNamara Funeral Service. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m. at St. Brigid Catholic Church located at the corner of Douty and Florinda Streets in Hanford, CA. Burial to follow at Home of Peace Cemetery 1013 E. Olive Ave. Porterville, CA.
Arrangements are under the direction of Whitehurst-McNamara Funeral Service.

Mr. Torres was my mentor. There was never a question he did not have the answer for. He allowed you to spread your wings and achieve your highest potential. He will be deeply missed but will be with those he loved who have gone be fore him.
