Clyde Ray Phillips, a resident of Green Forest, was born Jan. 1, 1930, in Dog Branch, a son of Denver and Janie (Fultz) Phillips. He departed this life Sunday, Dec. 8 (2013) in Springfield, Mo., at the age of 83 years.
Clyde attended the United Baptist Church in Green Forest. He worked as a building contractor and a farmer for many years. He enjoyed bowling with many friends, but most of all he loved spending time with family and playing with his grandkids.
On Jan. 7, 1947, Clyde was united in marriage with Rita Mae (Webb) Phillips, who survives him of the home. He is also survived by one daughter, Jorita and husband, Carl Schuh, of Green Forest; one brother, Cleo Phillips and wife, Thelma, of Berryville; one sister, Alberta Howerton, of Berryville; two grandchildren, Tim and Jennifer Howard, of Green Forest, and Summer and Jade Fultz, of Berryville; five great-grandchildren, Cody and Rebecca Howard, of Fayetteville, Jorge and Victoria Ramirez, of Berryville, Adlyn Howard and Lauryn Veach, of Green Forest, Kami Fultz, of Berryville; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and loved ones.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Denver and Janie Phillips, and one sister, Margie Webb.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel, Berryville. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel with Brother Jerry Spurlock officiating. Interment will be in the Gobbler Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
