Francis Noyes Obituary

Francis J. "Frank" Noyes, Jr., 90, of East Hartford, loving husband for over 61 years to Ana M. "Anita" (Veum) Noyes, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 1, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Hopedale, MA on June 3, 1928, the son of the late Francis J. and Marian F. (Cahill) Noyes, he had been a resident of East Hartford since 1962. Frank was a graduate of Hopedale High School, Class of 1946 in Hopedale, MA and the University of Maine, Class of 1950 in Orono, ME where he earned his BS Degree in Economics. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a longtime member of the American Legion. Prior to his retirement in 1990, Frank was employed for over 35 years by Industrial Risk Insurers in Hartford, retiring as an Account Executive.A devout Catholic, Frank was a faithful communicant and founding member of Our Lady of Peace Church, East Hartford where he was a Lector for many years and an active member of the Retiree's Club. He enjoyed traveling with his late wife throughout North America, South America, and Europe. Frank also liked fishing, canoeing, and other outdoor activities. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and UCONN Basketball teams, and a devoted daily watcher of Jeopardy. Most of all, Frank was a proud and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished his time with his entire family.Frank is survived by his six beloved children: two sons, James "Jim" Noyes and his wife, Jenni, of Utica, NY, William "Bill" Noyes and his wife, Natalie, of Granby; four daughters, Margaret Noyes Essex and her husband, Paul, of Fairfield, Kathleen Noyes Knecht and her husband, John, of Mansfield/Storrs, Patricia Noyes Jones and her husband, Dennis, of Pamplin, VA, MaryEllen Noyes Franciscus and her husband, Peter, of Ballwin, MO; fifteen special grandchildren; seven adored great-grandchildren; and many dear friends. In addition to his wife and parents, Frank was predeceased by a cherished grandson, Elias H. Jones of Pamplin, VA, and a sister, Mary Margaret Noyes of Hopedale, MA. Frank and his family also greatly appreciated the compassion and companionship Christine, his home healthcare aide, provided him over the last year. Funeral service will be Saturday (March 9th) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at Our Lady of Peace Church of St. Edmund Campion Parish, 370 May Road, East Hartford. Burial with military honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, (Section 2), Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury. Frank's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday (March 8th) from 4 – 7 pm at the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Frank's name may be made to the Elias H. Jones Scholarship Fund, c/o William Noyes, 6 Fawn Drive, Granby, CT 06035.
