MALONEY SR., John T.
John T. Maloney Sr., 85, West Hartford, died (November 18, 2011), "floating on an ocean of joy." John was born August 6, 1926 at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. His parents were Patrick J. Maloney and Anna Mae Crawley Maloney. He was a proud native of Hartford's North End, graduating from St. Michael's School where he was an officer in the "Boy's Brigade." John attended St. Thomas Seminary, Hillyer College, University of Hartford, UCONN, and Chrystal Research Laboratories. During WWII, he served in the U.S. Regular Army at Ft. Dix, N.J. and with the Army of Occupation in Japan under General MacArthur. On September 26, 1953 he wed Gloria Ann Scriminger at St. Joseph Cathedral in Hartford. John was employed as a Sales Manager by Thomas A. Edison Industries, McGraw Edison Co., and Harris Corporation. He was awarded many honors, including annual cruises and trips that were enjoyed by John and Gloria. John was also President and Incorporator of "Word Processing Services," which processed medical reports. His love for Ireland and County Clare was evidenced by biennial trips for over thirty years to visit his family and Irish cousins. He served on West Hartford Town Committees and was a Founder and long term President of "West Hartford Vision," a once vital Elmwood community activist organization. John established a nursing scholarship at St. Joseph College in his wife's name. He remained loyal and true all his days to family, friends and his church. John is survived by his beloved wife Gloria, their seven children, spouses, and 21 grandchildren: Maryann and Brian Doyle, Daniel and Michael (Boston) of Windsor; Michael and Anne Maloney, Elizabeth and John Patrick of Cromwell; Brian and Nancy Maloney, Sean, Ryan, Kevin and Kathryn of West Hartford; Paul Maloney and Meg Purcell of Mansfield Center, Brian (Hartford), Jason (Windsor) and Christopher (Mansfield Center); James and Arlene Maloney, Iris, Therese and Shane of West Hartford; Patrick and Jill Maloney, Connor, Griffin and Kelly of Avon; John, Jr. and Mary Margaret "Gar" Maloney, Aiden, Maeve, Caragh and Maggie of West Hartford. A brother Robert V. Maloney and his wife Iana of Groton Long Point; nephews and a niece, Sean and Timothy Maloney, Christopher and John Charland, and Julie Ribchinsky; his cherished friends Barbara and Frank Sampl of Newington; and his rescue dog "Calhoun" survive him. John was predeceased by his sister Maureen Kelly and nephew Mark Maloney.

Dear Jim, Gloria, and all the Maloneys:
I'm thinking of your family today and wishing I could be down in West Hartford this evening to give my condolences in person. The seven Carbonneaus and the seven Maloneys have always seemed to live parallel lives - first on opposite sides of Sampson St then on opposite sides of town - and I'm glad that our parents found a way to reconnect after their busy years of work and raising children to share the fun and challenge of creating the West Hartford Vision community group together. Peace be with your Dad/Husband. Take care,

To the Maloney family,
To Gloria, Maryann, Michael, Brian, Paul, Jim, Patrick, and John,
I am truly sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Maloney. It really seems like yesterday that I was playing basketball in the driveway of your home on Rumford Street and Mr. Maloney was cracking jokes from the doorway. Mr. Maloney and all of you opened your home to me and I can tell you your loss is shared by me and many others. His passing will truly be a great sorrow during this week but I also will count this as a time to be thankful for the many years of love that he shared with others as well as his family.
My deepest symapthy,
Gil Walton

My dearest Aunt Gloria and cousins Maryann, Michael, Paul, Brian, Jim, Patrick and Johnny - It is with great sorrow that I learned of my Uncle John's dying on Friday, November 18th. The memory of him is testimony to what a great son, husband, father, grandfather and uncle he was to so many who dearly loved him. May he find eternal rest in the warm embrace of his beloved mother, Anna Mae, father, Pat, sister, Mary "Maureen" and nephew, Mark.
