Joseph Leon Grant born September 2, 1952, loving husband of Bernice Nails Grant peacefully passed away on Sunday, (January 11, 2004) at John Dempsey Hospital, UCONN Health Center. He was a lifelong resident of the Hartford, New Britain area, and was the son of the late John W. Grant and his mother Dorothy Grant Jacobs. He is predeceased by his brothers, John and Darryl and sister, Brenda. To cherish his memories and mourn his passing, he leaves his wife, Bernice Nails Grant; two children, Johnny and Sha Sha; his mother, Dorothy Grant Jacobs; three brothers, L. Stanley, Charles and Ulysses; two sisters, Francis and Gloria; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 16, 6 p.m. at Clark, Bell & Bell Funeral Home, 319 Barbour Street, Hartford. Clark, Bell & Bell Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

To Charles and Stanley and the rest of the Grant family: I will always remember Joe, running up and down the basketball court at the Windsor St. playground and for the smile, he always greeted me with, whenever our paths crossed. Rest in peace, Joe.
