Mr. Zoppo was my first of many accounting teachers. I was fortunate to have him the last year he taught at Mills. I always wanted to thank him for his teachings and let him know that I went on to major in accounting at UHA and became a CPA. It all started with his class and those green sheets. Rest in peace Mr. Z. You were truly a class act!

My condolences to Mr Zoppo's family. I graduated from Lewis Mills in 1990. Mr Zoppo essentially changed the course of my life by inspiring me to do better in school and ultimately was the reason for me pursuing accounting. Up until my Senior year academics was not my strong point. Partying and hanging with my friends was much more important than paying attention in class and doing homework. Most teachers had pretty much given up on me. Then my Senior year I took Accounting with Mr Zoppo. It came easy to me, and I quickly excelled without much effort. More importantly, either Mr Zoppo didn't know my academic reputation or he didn't let on that he did, because he soon made me his favorite student. When I walked into his class I had earned the respect of an A+ student and it felt good. My confidence quickly grew and that year I won awards for academic achievement in his class as well as others. I always remember Mr Zoppo saying, "If you're going to draw a line make it straight." To this day, whenever I'm free handing calculations on paper I can't draw a line without using a straight edge. I got it Mr Zoppo--you'd be proud.

I had Mr. Zoppo for both Accounting classes that I took at Mills and I also worked at Mills for ten years. He was a great person - would do anything you needed and of course, he was a great teacher!! My condolences to the family.
