Mario Facchini Obituary

Mario Facchini died Wednesday, (July 18, 2001) in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Rovereto, Trentino, Italy, the son of Maria (Castelli) Facchini and the late Romano Facchini. He immigrated to the United States in 1958 and lived in New Britain. After his marriage to his beloved wife, Paula (Barbagallo) Facchini he moved to Kensington were they lived for ten years. Prior to moving to Avon two and a half years ago, Mario and his family resided in West Hartford for eighteen years. He was an accomplished and respected businessman in many ventures. Mario exuded a love of life evident to all. He will be remembered for his resounding voice and charisma which always drew a captive audience and left a lasting impression on those that were fortunate enough to have known him. An avid sportsman who had a passion for hunting, he enjoyed skiing, tennis and especially his Harley Davidson excursions. Mario served in the U.S. Air Force National Guard as a Military Police Officer. He was a member of Unico-New Britain Chapter, The Country Club of Farmington, The One Hundred Club as well as a member officer and Man of the Year 2000 of the General Ameglio Civic Association Inc. of New Britain. Besides his devoted wife, Paula, and his mother, Maria, he is survived by his children, Adrienne, David, and Stephanie. He also leaves a sister, Ileana Ravaglioli, her husband, Angelo Ravaglioli, and their children, Angela and Cristina, of Italy; a sister, Pina Facchini, and her children, Maurizio and Ermanna, of Italy; a sister, Donatella Campagnano-Lugo, and her husband, Raymond Lugo, who tended to Mario in his time of need, and her children, Alexandra Campagnano and Damian Campagnano and his wife, Jodie; a sister-in-law, Eva Facchini and his niece, Cheryl Facchini-Mencin and her husband, Mark; and several other nieces nephews and dear loyal friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Ermanno, and brother-in-law Guerino Marchetti. Friends may call at the Kenney-Luddy Funeral Home, 205 South Main St., New Britain, Friday, July 20, 3-7 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial luncheon that will be held Saturday, July 21, at The Ristorante Italia Avon Meadow Simsbury Rd., Avon from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Funeral and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family request that flowers be omitted and donations be made to The Ronnie Angelo Trust Fund, C/O Steven Barry, 53 Fairview Drive, Wethersfield, CT, 06109.
