ROBY, Phyllis (Lacoy) Newcomb
Phyllis (Lacoy) Newcomb Roby, daughter of George Lacoy and Muriel Robertson, born in Penacook, New Hampshire on June 17, 1918, died on June 25, 2013. She was raised in Portsmouth and Concord, New Hampshire and came to Connecticut after her marriage to Bradley Newcomb in 1942. After World War II they lived in Stockbridge, Michigan until settling in Storrs in 1954 where they raised their three children. Phyllis worked as a telephone operator for many years. After Brad's passing in 1971, she returned to New Hampshire and was married to Robert Roby, until his passing in 2005. In 2010 she moved to South Windsor and resided at the Village at Buckland Court. She is survived by her son Bradley L. Newcomb Jr. and Elaine of Willington; and daughter Janet Newcomb Slyman of North Windham; five grandchildren: Derek and Ashley Newcomb of Willington, Joshua Hufnagel and Sigrid Syvertsen and her daughter Taydra of New Hampshire, and Luke and Leah Syvertsen and their daughter Stella of Proctorsville, Vermont. Phyllis was predeceased by her daughter, Leslie Hufnagel Syvertsen in 2010.
The funeral will be held Friday at 4 p.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor. Burial will be private at Storrs Cemetery.
